Stunning Packaging

The other day I was in Anthropologie, and found the found these soaps for sale. I was amazed at the packaging.

The box is made out of thin wood (which is emphasized by the wood burnt design) which is bent into an oval, and tied shut with a leather string. However, instead of opening traditionally with hinges, the wood cover was thin enough so it could bend open, making the box minimalistic. Using flexible wood adds an element of excitement, as in previous experiences, the user has viewed wood as a stiff and strong material, not flexible like a canvas.

But what I like most about the box is the use of earthy textures. The packaging has a very organic feel, which compliments the fact that the product has primary ingredients of rainwater and goats milk. At the same time, the packaging very functional and is used to bring focus to the product by being neutral in color.
